35 individuals
received services; seventeen (17) participated in group crisis
interventions and eighteen (18) received companioning or one-on-one interventions in
2009. Since its
first deployment in 2000, KCIT has provided services to 10,412
individuals. KCIT
EPLOs were placed on stand-by prior to and during the G-20 Summit. KCIT
provided outreach to two (2) communities in the aftermath of a series of
arsons. In
four (4) incidents, KCIT was contacted for services and referrals were
made to the appropriate agencies/ organizations. KCIT provided outreach to a victim services agency in the aftermath of two (2) incidents of multiple homicides. Outreach KCIT
celebrated its 10th year of providing crisis response services
in the Commonwealth. Notices
of the anniversary were sent throughout the state. KCIT presented a workshop at the PCCD Pathways for Victim Services Conference.
Collaboration
with State Entities and Crisis Response Organizations KCIT
member representatives participate in the 9 Regional Task Forces and on
the 3 VOAD regions advocating the needs of crime victims and providing
outreach on KCIT services. Five
KCIT members have been PEMA trained to act as Emergency Preparedness
Liaison Officers at the KCIT
members attend the monthly Behavioral Health Consortium. The Office of the Victim Advocate reconvened the Homeland Security Crime Victim Response Committee twice this year. KCIT provides the administrative support to this committee. This committee continues to update its crisis response plan to ensure that the response process and protocols are in place in case of mass casualty. The plan addresses the unique needs of victims of crime.
